Hyrum completed the Cycling merit badge

Hyrum wanted to do the Cycling merit badge for scouts. It was a good merit badge for both dad and Hyrum. He had to ride 150 miles total for the merit badge requirements but he did close to 200 as we did some evening rides while we were waiting for the temps to drop below 100 degrees. On Saturday we completed the 50 mile ride which was quite an accomplishment.
Here we are at Simpson's Gap about 15 miles into the ride.  It was still fairly cool at this point

Here we are coming into our second rest stop at about 30 miles.   We fought a strong headwind and an uphill grade the entire 15 miles between Simpson's Gap and Ross River Highway.

We made it to mile 40 and our butts were getting pretty sore at this point. The final 13.5 miles back to the merit badge counselor's house are downhill and with a tail wind. Yea. Between 30 and 40 miles were by far the most difficult as he had to fight the same headwind and uphill grade. Some of the gusts almost brought him to a complete standstill.

Hyrum and Brent at mile 53.5.  What an accomplishment
